Whirlybird Installation · Craigieburn
With little tree shade across Craigieburn's open estate blocks, roofs take the full force of summer sun and the cavity heats up quickly. Whirlybirds let that trapped heat escape before it radiates down into the rooms below. On Craigieburn's concrete-tile roofs we lift the tile course at the vent, cut the penetration, bed the flashing watertight, and seat the turbine; on newer Colorbond estate roofs the vent flashes straight into the sheeting — either way, getting the flashing right is what matters most. Out on the northern plains where Craigieburn bakes in summer, a few well-placed turbines take real load off the cooling, and clear winter condensation from the cavity too.
Craigieburn's exposed estate blocks and hot northern location mean roofs bake in summer with no tree cover to help, so venting the cavity does more here than in a shaded inner suburb.
Local roof weather
Craigieburn sees around ~6 days above 35°C a year, and on those days an unventilated roof cavity turns into a heat store right above your ceilings.

The process
We look at roof size, pitch and existing airflow to work out how many vents you actually need — no over-selling.
Vents go high on the roof where the hottest air collects, balanced with the eave intake so air can actually move through.
On a tiled roof we lift the tiles, cut a neat penetration, and bed the flashing so it is fully weatherproof.
The turbine is seated in the flashing collar and the tiles are reinstated over the apron, leaving a clean, leak-free finish.
Installation differs by roof: on tiled roofs we cut and flash the penetration under the tile course, while on metal roofs the vent is flashed directly into the sheeting. Both need the flashing done properly — a rushed vent install is a classic future leak.
Installations are carried out by an insured team and the workmanship is backed by a 7-Year Workmanship Guarantee and a 10-Year Dulux Acratex Material Warranty.
