Whirlybird Installation · Doncaster East
Doncaster East's brick veneer homes from the 1970s and 80s were mostly built without roof ventilation, so their roof cavities trap summer heat and hold moisture through the cooler months, particularly under the moderate tree cover near Ruffey Lake Park. A whirlybird uses wind and rising heat to continuously exhaust that trapped air, easing the heat load on the rooms below in summer and reducing the condensation that can affect roof timbers over time. On concrete and terracotta tile roofs we flash the turbine in under the tile course so the install stays fully weatherproof; on colorbond metal sections it's a straightforward fit into the roof sheeting.
Doncaster East's higher rainfall means roof cavities hold more moisture through the cooler months than in drier suburbs, adding a moisture-control case to the usual summer heat argument for venting an older roof.
Local roof weather
Doncaster East sees around ~5 days above 35°C a year, and on those days an unventilated roof cavity turns into a heat store right above your ceilings.

The process
We look at roof size, pitch and existing airflow to work out how many vents you actually need — no over-selling.
Vents go high on the roof where the hottest air collects, balanced with the eave intake so air can actually move through.
On a tiled roof we lift the tiles, cut a neat penetration, and bed the flashing so it is fully weatherproof.
The turbine is seated in the flashing collar and the tiles are reinstated over the apron, leaving a clean, leak-free finish.
Installation differs by roof: on tiled roofs we cut and flash the penetration under the tile course, while on metal roofs the vent is flashed directly into the sheeting. Both need the flashing done properly — a rushed vent install is a classic future leak.
Installations are carried out by an insured team and the workmanship is backed by a 7-Year Workmanship Guarantee and a 10-Year Dulux Acratex Material Warranty.
