Whirlybird Installation · Eumemmerring
Eumemmerring's post-war brick veneer and weatherboard homes were built decades before roof ventilation became standard, so the cavity above the ceiling has no real way to release the heat that builds up on warm days or the moisture that gathers over a Melbourne winter. That trapped air pushes heat straight back down into the rooms below and can encourage condensation in the roof space. A whirlybird fixes this by continuously exhausting cavity air using wind and rising heat alone, no power required. We lift the tile course, cut a clean penetration, flash it watertight for the concrete tile common here, and set the turbine count to suit the actual roof area.
Eumemmerring's older homes on generous, flat blocks typically have no roof ventilation at all, so heat and moisture build up in the ceiling cavity with nowhere to escape.
Local roof weather
Eumemmerring sees around ~6 days above 35°C a year, and on those days an unventilated roof cavity turns into a heat store right above your ceilings.

The process
We look at roof size, pitch and existing airflow to work out how many vents you actually need — no over-selling.
Vents go high on the roof where the hottest air collects, balanced with the eave intake so air can actually move through.
On a tiled roof we lift the tiles, cut a neat penetration, and bed the flashing so it is fully weatherproof.
The turbine is seated in the flashing collar and the tiles are reinstated over the apron, leaving a clean, leak-free finish.
Installation differs by roof: on tiled roofs we cut and flash the penetration under the tile course, while on metal roofs the vent is flashed directly into the sheeting. Both need the flashing done properly — a rushed vent install is a classic future leak.
Installations are carried out by an insured team and the workmanship is backed by a 7-Year Workmanship Guarantee and a 10-Year Dulux Acratex Material Warranty.
