Whirlybird Installation · Maidstone
Maidstone's older weatherboard and brick cottages near the Maribyrnong River often have compact roof cavities with little original ventilation, so heat builds up quickly in summer and lingers into the evening. A whirlybird vents that air out continuously using wind and rising heat, with nothing to wire in and nothing that stops working during a power outage. On the terracotta cottage roofs we flash the turbine carefully under the tile course to keep the install weatherproof and sympathetic to an older roof; on the post-war brick veneer and newer Colorbond streets further out, it's a more straightforward fit.
Maidstone's older roof cavities near the river flats hold both summer heat and winter dampness longer than a newer home would, so venting does real work easing both problems through the year.
Local roof weather
Maidstone sees around ~7 days above 35°C a year, and on those days an unventilated roof cavity turns into a heat store right above your ceilings.

The process
We look at roof size, pitch and existing airflow to work out how many vents you actually need — no over-selling.
Vents go high on the roof where the hottest air collects, balanced with the eave intake so air can actually move through.
On a tiled roof we lift the tiles, cut a neat penetration, and bed the flashing so it is fully weatherproof.
The turbine is seated in the flashing collar and the tiles are reinstated over the apron, leaving a clean, leak-free finish.
Installation differs by roof: on tiled roofs we cut and flash the penetration under the tile course, while on metal roofs the vent is flashed directly into the sheeting. Both need the flashing done properly — a rushed vent install is a classic future leak.
Installations are carried out by an insured team and the workmanship is backed by a 7-Year Workmanship Guarantee and a 10-Year Dulux Acratex Material Warranty.
